Asahina Gyokuro

Really delicious tea. I usually like my tea strong, for this a little goes a long way. Full of flavour, similar to a cup of good matcha.

This is my first gyokuro, and as someone who’s had both sencha and matcha, I’d say it definitely has it’s own flavour profile. While a lot of gyokuro are said to have heavily umami flavours, I find this one has a much more subtle umami with pleasant vegetal and floral sweetness. Do keep in mind gyokuro can be steeped multiple times and the leaves can be eaten with a bit of soy sauce once spent.
