5 Favourite Christmas Movies Paired with a Perfect Cup of Tea
As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, there’s no better time to stay home on a Saturday night, steep your favourite tea, put on that ugly Christmas sweater, sink into the couch and binge-watch your favourite Christmas movies on repeat. What better way to keep the holiday spirit alive than to watch your favourite Christmas movie paired with your favourite cup of tea? As a fun exercise, and perhaps to guide your tastebuds, we started to think of which yuletide movies paired with some of our favourite loose-leaf teas available in-store and online.
1. Home Alone - Paired With Naughty & Spice
Whether it’s Home Alone 1, 2 or 3, these movies are Christmas favourite for all ages. When misbehaving Kevin McCallister is forced to sleep in the attic the night before his family leaves for a trip, he accidentally gets left behind. Kevin thinks all of his dreams have come true until two men try to break into his home. He is then forced to use his mischief mind to play tricks on the burglars to get them to stay away.
We’ve paired Home Alone with our Naughty & Spice Tea to help you feel connected with Kevin’s character and his defiant behaviour. This limited-edition holiday tea is a mix of Ceylon black tea, cinnamon bark, ginger root, black pepper, coriander seed, star anise, cardamom, clove buds, vanilla, orange peel and pink pepper. One sip of this tea and you can taste an array of different flavours from sweet, spicy and savoury emphasizing the Naughty & Spice inherent in both Kevin and the tea.
2. Elf - Paired with Chocolate Mint Tea
Elf takes you on a magical childhood journey when Buddy, who was raised as an Elf in the North Pole, realizes he doesn’t fit in with the rest of the elves. He decides to travel to New York to find his real father. Although much older, and bigger than most elves - Buddy acts as though he is a young, Christmas-obsessed elf who loves Candy and all things magical (especially maple syrup).
Our Chocolate Mint Tea is the perfect blend for those who feel like they are children at heart just like Buddy. The tea is a delicious chocolate mint truffle blend without the sugar. It’s both cool and creamy that can be steeped with or without milk. It’s sweet and tangy taste requires no extra sugars added unless you’re Buddy who seemingly always needs a few more scoops of sugar.
3. How the Grinch Stole Christmas - Paired with Christmas Green Tea
This classic green character is a favourite among many, despite his hatred for Christmas. The Grinch and his dog live atop a mountain in solitary far away from Whoville civilians who love to celebrate Christmas with a bang. As their love for Christmas grows, so does The Grinch’s hate for Christmas. He will stop at nothing to steal Christmas from the Whos.
It’s no secret as to why we chose to pair this movie with our Christmas Green Tea. A classic Christmas movie that features a lot of green calls for a classic Christmas Green Tea. With a special blend of cinnamon, orange and star anise and spices, this tea is an annual favourite. Not to mention wanting to match our tea name to the Grinch’s green fur and his green envy for the Whos and all the happiness they embody.
4. The Holiday - Paired with English Breakfast Tea
Although not your typical Christmas movie involving Santa or Rudolph, this romantic comedy hits all the sweet spots to fill your cozy night in. After being broken up with, English woman, Iris, agrees to swap homes with unlucky Californian, Amanda. This switch is a catalyst that leads to both of their lives taking a turn. Amanda gets accustomed to living in a quaint English town, while Iris becomes comfortable in a big city while both find romantic counterparts.
We chose to pair this movie with a simple English Breakfast Tea to represent the quaint English town Amanda stays in. Sip on your English Breakfast tea while living vicariously through her story as she navigates her newfound British love. This classic morning tea is full-bodied, robust, and rich that is most often paired with milk and sugar and gives the perfect pick me up, both in the morning and in your love life.
5. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer - Paired with Canadian Cranberry Tea
There’s no better character than Rudolph, Santa’s most-trusted reindeer. This timeless film has to be watched at least once throughout the Christmas season. Reliably aired as an animated TV special every single year to get you into the holiday spirit, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer gives us all the feels as Rudolph must save the day when Christmas is threatened to be ruined by a foggy Christmas Eve.
Our Canadian Cranberry Tea is red in colour, but sweet on the inside just like Rudolph and his red nose. This fruit tisane produces a warm, flavourful cup with the perfect mix of both tang and tart to satisfy your taste buds. This tea also comes caffeine-free with the same amount of flavour with the least amount of caffeine.
