5 Benefits of Green Tea for Skin
1. It can repair and protect.
Green tea is capable of promoting DNA repair with the powerful antioxidant EGCG. This compound can help combat signs of ageing when applied topically. It’s also able to fight damage caused by UV rays. This makes a green tea scrub a post-summer essential.
2. It’s anti-inflammatory.
Green tea has high concentrations of catechins. This polyphenol is capable of reducing redness, swelling, and irritation that is the product of inflammation in the skin. Applying green tea to the skin can soothe these problem areas.
3. It’s antibacterial.
If you struggle with clogged pores or acne, green tea can help fight against bacterial buildup. Scrubbing the skin every week can help alleviate bacterial growth that can cause acne.
4. It leaves skin glowing and soft.
The skin is our largest organ and it requires nourishment from the inside and out! Green tea is packed with Vitamin B2 and E. Vitamin B2 helps with the skin firmness and structure and Vitamin E help with cell growth. Put these two together and you’ve got a youthful, soft complexion.
5. It’s great for puffy eyes.
The caffeine found in green tea is great for shrinking the blood vessels around the eyes. This creates a de-puffing effect that we all need in the morning. Apply a little to your eyes and watch those dark circles brighten up.
